Keith Nelson - Artist and studio developer.
His work is minimal and reductive in form, while retaining a stoic and authoritative presence. His arrangements blur the line between painting, sculpture, and installation. Clusters of colored shapes lose their autonomy once they are placed on his shelves. The work hovers somewhere between modular objects who are separate but for their proximity, and the singular work composed through the collective of parts.
Keith has built artist studios on 7th and 5th floors of an industrial building in Milwaukee’s Bay View neighborhood. His personal studio is expansive, and glorious. It is composed of a work room, a wood shop, and a cleaner staging area. It is a glorious sight to see.
